About

SkepticCanary.com is the blog of myself, Tom Williamson. I hold a PhD in Systems Biology, I’m a skeptic, science-enthusiast and fan of Norwich City Football Club!

A quick life story: I was born in Eastbourne, a town on the south cost of England famed for it’s pier. I didn’t stay there long, being moved to Bury St. Edmunds in Suffolk at the age of 2, before moving on to Hethersett, Norfolk when I was nine. It was in Hethersett I developed a fondness for Norwich City FC, I got there just in time for the inaugural season of the Premier League where the team finished 3rd in the league and qualified for the UEFA cup, beating Bayern Munich before losing out to eventual winners Inter Milan.

After doing GCSEs at Hethersett High School and A levels at the City of Norwich School, I went to study Biochemistry at the University of York. I liked it so much that I stayed on to do a Masters in Bioinformatics, before embarking further north to start a PhD in Systems Biology at the University of Manchester. I finally graduated in July 2010.

I currently make websites for a company in Liverpool, and get involved in skepticism when I can. That’s it!
